Using the Text Editor

The Eloquence Development Environment provides an integrated program and text editor to manage, edit, and print source files. Most of the procedures for using the editor should seem familiar if you have used other Windows-based text editors.

The Explorer Window is used to handle all file operations.
Use the File menu to create source files, open single files, open multiple files, and save and print source files.
Move around in a source file with the Go To.
Use bookmarks to mark frequently accessed lines in your source file.
Navigate source files using a wide range of commands.
Perform advanced find and replace operations in a single file or multiple files.
Specify text selection for lines and multiple lines.
Cut, copy, paste, and delete text with the Edit menu.
Customize the text editor. The Application Properties provide the default editor settings. The Document Properties maintain specific settings for the current document.
Control the source window by switching between windows, opening new windows and splitting window views.

Tip While using the text editor, in many instances you can click the right mouse button to display a pop-up menu of frequently used commands. The commands available depend on what the mouse pointer is pointing to and whether you are in edit or debug mode. For example, if you click while pointing to the name of a file, the pop-up menu shows a command to open that file, as well as other commands including Copy, Insert/Remove Breakpoint, and Properties.
