This document covers the installation of Eloquence B.08.40 and/or update
from a previous Eloquence release.
Supported platforms
Eloquence B.08.40 is supported on the following platforms and
operating systems:
- HP-UX
-
HP-UX 11.31 on Itanium hardware. This version will no longer
include any PA-RISC libraries for use with the Aries emulation.
Please let us know if you require the Eloquence PA-RISC libraries
on Itanium.
The Eloquence B.08.40 release no longer supports PA-RISC hardware
and HP-UX versions before 11.31.
- Linux

The Eloquence B.08.40 release supports 64-bit Linux environments on
Intel/AMD hardware. Eloquence includes support for both 32-bit and 64-bit
applications.
Linux distributions RHEL 8.5, SLES 15SP3 and Ubuntu LTS 2020 were
tested and are supported along with newer versions.
The Eloquence B.08.40 release no longer supports 32-bit
Linux distributions. While we fully support 32-bit applications
a 64-bit operating system is expected.
Experimental support for Eloquence on the 64-bit ARM platform
is available from the deb repository.
- Windows

Eloquence B.08.40 is available for 64-bit (x64) Windows.
Supported minimum versions are:
Windows 10 or newer, Windows Server 2016 or newer.
The Eloquence B.08.40 release no longer supports 32-bit Windows
installations. While we fully support 32-bit applications a 64-bit
operating system is required.
New installation directory
Eloquence B.08.40 is installed in a separate directory.
- HP-UX and Linux
- The Eloquence B.08.40 software is installed to the "/opt/eloquence/8.4"
directory. This allows Eloquence B.08.40 to be installed in parallel with
previous Eloquence releases.
- An existing installation of a previous Eloquence release is not updated
or replaced when installing Eloquence B.08.40. It may be uninstalled once it
is no longer used. The installation procedure does not copy or migrate the
configuration of a previous Eloquence release.
- Windows
- By default, Eloquence B.08.40 is installed to the "Eloquence\8.4"
directory below "Program Files".
License keys
Eloquence B.08.40 requires a license key version B.08.40 or above.
For a new Eloquence installation or when upgrading from a previous
Eloquence version a new license key must be obtained to use the
Eloquence server components.
Please notice: Eloquence B.08.40 use a different license key format
that is not backwards compatible with previous Eloquence releases.

Obtaining Eloquence
Please note that downloading and installing the Eloquence B.08.40
beta software is subject to the
Eloquence beta test agreement.
The Eloquence B.08.40 release is available for download from the
Eloquence web site:

For the Linux platform Eloquence provides
yum and
deb package repositories to
make it easy to install and update Eloquence on a variety of
Linux distributions.
Please refer to the Linux installation
documentation for details how to install from a repository for
a specific Linux distribution.
Installing Eloquence
Eloquence installation follows the conventions of the respective platform.

- HP-UX

information on supported HP-UX releases, required HP-UX patches and system
prerequisites.

document describes the HP-UX kernel configuration parameters required
to use Eloquence B.08.40.
