A user name and password is required to connect to a database.
Unless specified by either DBLOGON or DBOPEN a default user ("public")
is used.
DBLOGON saves the identity for usage with a subsequent DBOPEN.
DBLOGON(user,password,status)
- user
-
is an array of up to 128 bytes that contains the user name.
It must be terminated by either a semicolon,
a space a NUL character.
- password
-
is an array of up to 128 bytes that contains the password associated
with the user. It must be terminated by either a semicolon,
a space a NUL character.
- status
-
is the name of an array of 10 halfwords in which the database returns
status information about the procedure. If the procedure executes
successfully, the status array contents are:
Element |
Contents |
1 |
If the procedure succeeds, the return status is 0.
Otherwise it provides a status code to describe the failure.
|
2-4 |
Unchanged.
|
5-10 |
Information about the current procedure call and its results.

Discussion:
DBLOGON does not verify the arguments but merely saves the
information for usage by a subsequent DBOPEN.
DBLOGON is called impliceitely by specifying a user name
and password with the DBOPEN password parameter.
To reset a previously established identity (to force using the
default user name), call DBLOGON with an empty string for the
user name.
