Eloquence B.08.30 requires a license key version B.08.30 or above.
For a new Eloquence installation or when upgrading from a previous Eloquence
version a new license key must be obtained to use the Eloquence server components.
The basic FTS functionality is included in the base product.
To use enhanced FTS indexing functionality, an additional FTS or FTC license key is
required.
The installation program on HP-UX and Windows by default grants a temporary license valid
for 30 days, if Eloquence B.08.30 is installed for the first time on a system. This option
may be disabled in the HP-UX swinstall dialog or the Windows installer "Custom Setup" dialog,
if a temporary license is not needed.
To request a permanent license key, please use the form included
with the delivery or use the license request form on the Eloquence
web site at:
http://eloquence.marxmeier.com/license/
The Eloquence software id (SWID) necessary to request a license key
may be obtained using the gethwid utility. The installed license keys
may be verified using the chklic utility.
It is necessary to install Eloquence to use these utilities. They are
located in the Eloquence etc installation subdirectory, by default:
- HP-UX and Linux
- /opt/eloquence/8.3/etc/gethwid
/opt/eloquence/8.3/etc/chklic
- 32-bit Windows
- C:\Program Files\Eloquence\8.3\etc\gethwid.exe
C:\Program Files\Eloquence\8.3\etc\chklic.exe
- 64-bit Windows
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Eloquence\8.3\etc\gethwid.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Eloquence\8.3\etc\chklic.exe
By default, the gethwid utility only returns a primary SWID. By specifying the -a option
all applicable SWID values are output.
For example:
On HP-UX:
/opt/eloquence/8.3/etc/gethwid
3535806523
/opt/eloquence/8.3/etc/gethwid -a
3535806523
P2366910547
M2366910547
On 64-bit Windows:
C:\> "C:\Program Files (x86)\Eloquence\8.3\etc\gethwid.exe"
3247020679
Any license keys must be added to the license file manually.
It is recommended to comment out (or delete) any previous license keys when adding
the new B.08.30 license key(s) to the license file.
- HP-UX and Linux
- /etc/opt/eloquence/8.3/license
- 32-bit Windows
- C:\Program Files\Eloquence\8.3\etc\license
- 64-bit Windows
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Eloquence\8.3\etc\license
The chklic utility may be used to verify the license file.
A copy of the default license key template file is also available. This template
file also includes the license key for the Eloquence Personal Edition license.
- HP-UX and Linux
- /opt/eloquence/8.3/newconfig/config/license
- 32-bit Windows
- C:\Program Files\Eloquence\8.3\etc\license.sam
- 64-bit Windows
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Eloquence\8.3\etc\license.sam
When editing the license file on Windows, please pay attention to not modify the
template file by accident, which may happen when your Windows Explorer folder settings
suppress the display of known file extensions (like .sam) by default.
Please notice:
-
The Eloquence B.08.30 gethwid utility may return a different SWID
on some HP-UX systems when using partitions (npar/vpar)
than Eloquence releases before B.08.10.
In this case the SWID value starts with a 'P'.
The previous SWID is still valid, though.
-
When requesting an updated license key please provide the previous SWID (or
uname -i output) in addition to the new 'P' SWID.
The default license file includes a license key for the Eloquence
Personal Edition, which provides a fully functional version of the
Eloquence product (not time-limited) for non-commercial usage, but
restricted to a maximum of 2 concurrent users and a database size
of 50 MB. It does include a license for the TurboIMAGE compatibility
but does not include the database server replication or database
encryption options.
