HP Eloquence Dialog System

The HP Eloquence Dialog System are now available in a 32 bit version in addition to the 16 bit version. The 32 bit components have the same name as their 16 bit counterparts with an additional 32. So DLGSRV.EXE becomes DLGSRV32.EXE.

The EQEXEC remote exec utility has also been ported to the 32 bit Windows environment and is now named EQEXEC32. It uses the eqexec.ini configuration file located in the Windows installation directory. To start your HP Eloquence application on a remote server, you should consider to use the new EqStart utility. EQEXEC can only be used with server which implement the rexec protocol.

Major changes

The RUNSRV32 and DLGSRV32 do no longer appear in the application area of the Windows 95 / Windows NT 4.0 task bar. Instead, they provide a little icon into the "tray" area of the Taskbar (at the right hand side of the task bar where the clock is optionally displayed). By clicking these icons (single mouse click) their windows are opened as usual.
The CVDLG dialog file conversion utility now is also available on the 32bit Windows platform.
The DLGCLONE utility is obsolete since DLGSRV32 can be natively used in multiple instances.
The current DLGSRV32 has been built using the Dialog Manager runtime library version 3.06c. This fixes all known bugs concerning modular dialog files and memory/resource leaks. Using modular dialog files should now work as expected.

Upgrade instructions

The DLGSRV32, RUNSRV32 and EQEXEC32 executables are installed with the HP Eloquence runtime. After installation, they are located in the /bin subdirectory relative to the installation directory (see also: Directory structure).

The configuration file has been renamed to ELOQCL.INI (HP Eloquence client configuration). It is located in the /etc subdirectory relative to the installation directory. The setup program prepares this file so that it will be ready-to-use (the DlgSrv configuration item in the [RunSrv] section is setup to the location of the DLGSRV executable). However, any individual settings from your former 16bit ELOQ.INI file must be manually transferred into the new ELOQCL.INI file. This applies to the settings in the [Modules] and [DlgSrv] sections as well as to any of your user-defined sections.

You will find the new RUNSRV32 program located in the HP Eloquence program group. Please note, that you can not use the RUNSRV32 at the same time while the 16bit RUNSRV is active.
