Configuration tasks

Setup your network connection

To setup your network connection you have to change the following network software configuration files:
/etc/hosts
maps IP addresses and host names
/etc/services
maps service names and port numbers

Change your hosts file

You have to add the name of each client PC to your /etc/hosts file. Make an entry like below:
   192.1.1.100 clientname

Where 192.1.1.100 is the IP address of a client PC and clientname is the hostname of a client pc.

Change your services file

To provide a service name / port number mapping, you have to change your /etc/services file.
Add lines like below to your /etc/services file:
eloq 8000/tcp # Eloquence remote database
runsrv 8010/tcp # Eloquence remote exec server
   dmclnt 8011/tcp # Eloquence dmclnt

Where
eloq
is the service name used by Eloquence for remote database access.
RUNSRV
is the service name used by the Eloquence remote execution client.
dmclnt
is the service name used by the Eloquence dialog server. This service defines the first port in a range of ports used by the Eloquence dialog server.

Verify carefully that the choosen port numbers (8000,8010,8011 in the example above) are unique and not already in use.

Customize the eloq.ini file

No changes are necessary to the eloq.ini file, unless the defaults are not sufficient.
Please refer to the documentation of the eloq.ini file on the HP-UX system for further reference.
